The Most Practical Guide to Buying Baby Car Seats

Purchasing a car seat need to be done with utmost care.

We highly recommend you to drop in and talk to our friendly staff regarding the seat that will suit your needs for a newborn baby or to measure your child prior to purchasing a child car seat.

Our store is created to help parents by presenting them with the best options for baby products. We understand the importance of the wellbeing of the baby and we want to be a respectful partner in this wonderful journey of parenthood. Having these in mind, we created several services to diversify our game of products to make sure you have everything you need for your little bundle of joy. And one of our core safety issues as parents is, of course, the child’s safety when we are on the road. This is not just an important topic for parents, it is a law requirement. In Australia, all children under 7 years old must use a system adapted to the age and the height of the child.

To help you accommodate to your new role, we have added a new service, available to our location: we provide accredited car seat fitting services in our store.
We are an ACRI Accredited (Australian Child Restraint Resource Initiative) Car Seat Installers.

  • Choose the right child restraint

Child restraints must be the right size for a child, properly adjusted and fastened, and correctly fitted to the vehicle.

  • Children from birth to 4 years

Children under 4 years old must travel in a rear facing or forward facing child restraint.

  • Children aged between 4-7 years

Children aged between 4-7 years must travel in a forward facing child restraint or a booster seat.

Children aged between 7 and 16 are required to use a booster seat or adult seat belt when travelling in a vehicle.

We regard this matter with high importance. Our car seat fitters will ensure the safe installation and adjustment of your car seat, as well as how to use restraints correctly.

Prior bookings are essential for a car seat fitting. We will answer your questions about the child’s safety and car seats at the store, so we want to make sure we have enough time allocated to go over this serious and essential topic.

We want to create a comfortable and convenient shopping experience for you, as a parent. We do not want to think about children being involved in a collision, but this is a reality and we want to make sure we offer all the help we can so you are prepared if these unfortunate events happen.

Car restraints for motor vehicle occupants are compulsory. Child car restraints greatly reduce the risk of a child being injured or killed in a car accident. Make sure you buy a restraint that is suitable for your child and your car, and that meets mandatory safety requirements.

  • About children's car restraints
Choosing the correct car restraint for your child and installing it correctly is important to ensure a proper level of safety.

Child car restraints are fitted in the car, either with existing adult seatbelts or with a lower anchorage attachment system instead of the seatbelt. They are generally suitable for children from birth up to around 10 years of age or with a shoulder height up to 530mm.

  • Choosing the correct style of restraint

Child car restraints were previously related to the mass (weight) of the child. However the size and mass of a child can vary significantly. The size of the child along with an approximate age recommendation is now used to inform consumer decisions on child car restraint purchase. In addition, restraints that are attached by a low vehicle anchorage system (commonly known as ISOFIX) are now able to be used for certain types (A, B and D and combinations).

The style of restraint you should use is dependent on your child’s size, specifically their height at the shoulder. Shoulder height markings are provided on most types of restraints. A child’s age is also used as a guide to select and use the right restraint. There are up to nine categories or Types of child car restraint that can be used:

Type A

Rearward facing restraints: for infants with a supine length up to 70cm and 6 months of age; for infants with a supine length up to 80cm and 12 months of age; for infants up to 30 months of age; transverse restraints for infants with a supine length up to 70cm and 6 months of age.

Type B
